Perhaps best known as the original head of Nike Tennis, IAN HAMILTON has had a monumental effect on tennis. Starting out as a pro and then a coach, Ian took on work with a small sneaker company in the Pacific Northwest. During his time at Nike, Ian Hamilton worked with Phil Knight to build Nike into the biggest brand in tennis. Ian was instrumental in outfitting McEnroe, Courier, Agassi and Sampras. And through it all, he helped build Nike into a worldwide tennis brand.
Ian Hamilton tells us how John McEnroe ended up wearing cross trainers at the LA Open. He describes what it was like to close down Trafalgar Square to shoot a commercial with Pete and Andre. And he assesses the state of tennis apparel today.
